Our Standard Seal Solution!

We describe our standard seal service, the service we perform most frequently.

Step 1. The Appraisal
A Shower Repairs Plus fully trained and DiaoSeal waterproofing authorized technician will assess the shower, bath or area in question.
In this appraisal the DiaoSeal waterproofing system involved will be explained to the owner, resident or representative.
(NB: if tiles are drummy or broken then this is a separate procedure and additional to the cost.)
A FREE shower water pressure test will be carried out to determine if there are any plumbing faults within the shower
bridging piece.
If the shower leakage is caused by a plumbing issue our technician will then make arrangements to seal the shower
after a qualified plumber has rectified the plumbing problem.

Step 2. Plumbing
A full tap service will be carried out on standard spindle assemblies; this includes “O” rings, fibre washers, jumper valves and reseat.
After the tap service the tile penetration will be sealed to prevent any water entering between the wall tiles and
tap flanges into the wall cavity or down behind the tiles. (NB: It is not possible to undertake this step if a gravity-fed
hot water system is installed or if ceramic disc ware or, mixers are fitted.)

Step 3. Shower Preparation
Any previous attempts to seal the shower will be removed. The floor waste (drain) will be inspected and cleaned and
if required sealed with our product.
Any silicone to the inside of the shower screen will be removed and the frame cleaned for a high performance neutral
cure silicone sealant designed to resist the growth of mould and mildew where conditions of high humidity and temperature exist.

Step 4. Grouting
The technician will assess the existing floor grout for deterioration, cracks and efflorescence. The grout will then either
be topped up, replaced or sealed.
Any cracked tiles will be repaired using our product or the tile replaced as costed on appraisal.
The Shower Repairs Plus Standard seal normally involves regrouting the shower wall with a smooth, flexible, mould
resistant grout (NB: if not cement or epoxy grout), however if the existing wall grouting is in excellent condition, this is
omitted. If the walls are not regrouted, the technician will apply a sealer as per step7.

Step 5. DiaoSeal product Preparation
Our technician will prepare all wall and floor junctions along with any wall and wall junctions including vertical hob
junctions using purpose designed and engineered diamond burs. This process ensures a clean product bond to the tile, instead of relying on the product adhering to the glaze of the tile as by our competitors.

Step 6. DiaoSeal Application
Our DiaoSeal product will be applied to these now prepared main movement areas. The application is in form of a 5mm coving. The product will be colour matched to the colour of the shower as closely as possible to give a neat appearance.
Our DiaoSeal product has been specifically designed for wet area sealing and has the strength to withstand normal building movement. It will not crack, deteriorate or let water penetrate through the junctions. It does not dissolve or weaken with strong chemical cleaning agents.

Step 7. DiaoSeal Sealer
A clear sealer applied to the entire tiled surface area of the shower. This sealer deeply penetrates the grout to help
strengthen and seal it by narrowing the pores.
Any micro fractures in the glazing of the tile will be sealed. This prevents any unnecessary tile removal.

> Tile Regrouting

As a result of regrouting the shower during a standard seal service the client regularly request us to regrout the entire bathroom. Instantly rejuvenating the deteriorated wall grout and breathing new life into the bathroom.

This service is offered as a stand alone service and is quoted on a square meter rate

> Chemical cleaning

This is usually required on a neglected shower as commonly found through our strata clients. The technician will strip and clean the tile surface and grout back to an acceptable standard.

> Clean & Seal

Kitchen, Laundries bathroom surfaces and grout will develop stains and discolour over time. Our technicians will clean the required area as per Chemical cleaning applying an appropriate grout sealer to penetrate the grout to help strengthen and seal it by narrowing the pores.

> Silicone Seals

Apply new sealants and or remove existing silicone and clean in preparation for a high performance silicone sealant Or polyurethane sealant designed to resist the growth of mould and mildew where conditions of high humidity and temperature exist.

This service is offered as a stand alone service and is quoted on a per meter rate. Applications include bath perimeter, vanity, sinks, laundry tubs etc.
